The cost depends on how many trademarks you want to protect and how many categories of products/services you need.

The total cost for an application covering one category/class is £390. If you want to add extra classes, each extra class included costs £100.

Our costs include all Trademark Office official fees.

Completing the trademark application form online only takes a matter of minutes. The application will then be submitted to the UK Trademark Office.

The UK trademark application process, from submission through to registration, takes around 4-6 months. Timeframes can vary, depending on whether the Trademark Office raises any issues that need to be addressed.

The Trademark Office does not permit changes to the trademark where those changes affect the identity of the trademark. This is interpreted quite narrowly so the addition or removal of any significant words or extra material means that they will not allow the trademark to be changed or updated.

The Trademark Office does not allow classes to be added to an application after it has been submitted, but you can submit another application for additional classes at any time.

It is sometimes possible to correct an error soon after the application has been submitted, but the approval of any change is at the discretion of the Trademark Office.

You can transfer ownership of the trademark to another entity at any time. This does incur costs.

Each country has its own trademark register, rules and regulations. So a trademark registration in the United Kingdom provides protection in the United Kingdom only.

If you’re interested in protecting your trademark in other countries, separate trademark applications would need to be submitted in those countries.

We provide online application services in New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom, and can assist in other countries.

We submit trademark applications to the Trademark Office as soon as we have confirmed we have all the required information to submit a valid application, within one business day.

If you change your mind and cancel your order before the trademark application has been submitted to the Trademark Office, we will refund you the fees paid minus £50 to cover non-refundable payment gateway and validation/administrative costs.

Once your trademark application has been submitted to the Trademark Office, it is not possible to get a refund because the official Trademark Office fees have been paid.

This is a proceeding in which someone objects to registration of your trademark application.

After your trademark application is accepted for registration by the Trademark Office, it is published for a time period (two months) before it is registered. During this time, known as the opposition period, other entities can oppose registration by submitting an opposition with the Trademark Office.

Who can oppose a trademark application?
Any individual, company or group can submit an opposition to a trademark application. The opponent does not need to be the owner of a similar mark or have any commercial interest in the outcome.

What are grounds for a trademark opposition?
The most common grounds for opposition are that the trademark is too generic, is too similar to an earlier registered trademark and is likely to cause confusion - or that the trademark applicant is not the owner of the trademark.

While we assist with registration of trademarks, an opposition is quite a complicated proceeding with strict deadlines, and is outside the scope of services we provide. If your trademark application is opposed, we suggest talking to a specialist trademark attorney or lawyer who will be able to provide you with information on what you can do.

Trademarks can exist indefinitely, provided that they are continuously renewed and are being genuinely used in trade. A trademark renewal must be submitted every ten years.
